Bradshaw, and an unidentified interloper who apparently wandered in from the street in a desperate search for human contact.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>I\u2019m saddened to have heard the news this morning of the passing of my longtime friend and associate <a href=\"https:\/\/interpreterfoundation.org\/author\/george\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">George Mitton<\/a>. \u00a0He was an associate editor of the old <em>FARMS Review<\/em> before it was terminated in a palace coup at the Maxwell Institute and, after that unpleasant episode, was involved with the Interpreter Foundation from its very beginning. \u00a0He has been serving on our book review committee, and I received a note from the chairman of that committee in response to the news of his passing: \u00a0\u201cJust last week I received an email from him with feedback on a book review. He was contributing to the kingdom right up to the end. You can probably pick out the soloist for that tour, Ewan Harbrecht. \u00a0(Wikimedia Commons public domain photograph)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>My wife and I also had the good fortune to have known George\u2019s remarkable wife, <a href=\"https:\/\/nelsonmortuary.com\/obituaries\/ewan-mitton\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Ewan Harbrecht Mitton<\/a>, whom some may perhaps recall from her mention in the account, given in the third volume of <em>Saints<\/em>, of the Tabernacle Choir\u2019s 1955 European tour. \u00a0She was the soloist for the Choir during that historic visit, which was undertaken at least in part to celebrate the dedication of the temple in Zollikofen, Switzerland, the long-dreamed-of first Latter-day Saint temple in Europe.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_105086\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-105086\" style=\"width: 200px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/186\/2024\/05\/Joseph-Smith-and-Our-Preparation.jpg\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-105086\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/186\/2024\/05\/Joseph-Smith-and-Our-Preparation.jpg\" alt=\".,sdfms.,f.s\" width=\"200\" height=\"302\"><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-105086\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The cover of a recent book from the Interpreter Foundation.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>George \u00a0was soft-spoken, kind, funny, incisive, hard-working, and deeply loyal to the Kingdom of God. \u00a0We\u2019ll sorely miss him, but we\u2019re happy for him at the same time. \u00a0As one of the members of our Interpreter board put it, \u201cHe will be with Ewan again. He was a great contributor and thinker.\u201d \u00a0He is a classic illustration of the principle of \u201cenduring to the end.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m very happy, too, that we got <a href=\"https:\/\/interpreterfoundation.org\/books\/joseph-smith-and-our-preparation-for-the-lords-final-judgment\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">a book of his essays<\/a> out in time, and that we were able to present it to him at a small celebration in his honor on 10 May 2024. \u00a0(The book\u2019s overall theme \u2014 \u201cfour significant articles that offer much guidance for our preparation to meet the Lord at the veil\u201d \u2014 is exceptionally appropriate to his own passing.) \u00a0I\u2019m grateful to all who made the book and the event happen.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_44710\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-44710\" style=\"width: 597px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/186\/2017\/10\/jerusalem-center-byu-1316213-gallery-2.jpg\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-44710\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/186\/2017\/10\/jerusalem-center-byu-1316213-gallery-2.jpg\" alt=\"BYU JC IL klsdfajksflkas\" width=\"597\" height=\"400\"><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-44710\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">S.
