obvious that the author of this piece drew some of her material from the Christopher Hitchens Memorial \u201cHow Religion Poisons Everything\u201d File<\/em>\u2122: \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.deseret.com\/faith\/2024\/08\/27\/most-religious-state-in-us\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">\u201cThe state bucking the national \u2018dechurching\u2019 trend:\u00a0Survey: Majority of Utahns say they attend church at least once a month.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\nIt\u2019s actually been apparent to me for some time now, when I\u2019ve been deeply immersed in the Hitchens File<\/em> and looking around in it, that I haven\u2019t always been entirely alone there. \u00a0I\u2019ve heard others moving about as well, and I\u2019ve even heard the occasional \u2014 and quite understandable \u2014 howl of indignation and shocked moral outrage.<\/p>\nWhether directly or indirectly, she also drew upon the Hitchens File<\/em> for this<\/em> catalogue of horrors: \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.deseret.com\/faith\/2024\/08\/27\/latter-day-saints-service-in-ghana-and-switzerland\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">\u201cHow Latter-day Saints served their communities across the globe this summer: Service projects focused on helping children with malnutrition, rebuilding schools and more,\u201d<\/a>\u00a0 Compare this awful litany of barbarities from the Newsroom of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints: \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.churchofjesuschrist.org\/article\/latter-day-saints-around-the-world-august-2024\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">\u201cLatter-day Saints Around the World: August 2024:\u00a0Medical equipment donated to Kosrae State Hospital, African families blessed with free medical and nutritional aid, and missionaries clean up storm debris in Switzerland.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\nBy contrast, this story may seem to cover only a small matter: \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.churchofjesuschrist.org\/article\/church-announces-new-initiative-to-provide-support-for-military-veterans\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">\u201cChurch Announces New Initiative to Provide Support for Military Veterans:\u00a0The Church was a sponsor for the 38th annual National Veterans Golden Age Games, athletic competitions for veterans 55 and older.\u201d<\/a> \u00a0But that shouldn\u2019t make it any less distasteful to right-thinking
