They were established in 1979 and have evolved to recognize a wide range of content, including movies, documentaries, commercials, and social media.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The movie <em>Six Days in August <\/em>was awarded two Silver Tellys: one for Narrative Film, and another for Historical Film. The movie was also awarded a People\u2019s Choice Bronze Telly. Out of thousands of entries, <em>Six Days in August<\/em> was one of only six recipients of the Silver Telly for Narrative Film.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is the second Interpreter Foundation film production that has won a Telly Award. Their previous feature film, <em>Witnesses,<\/em>won a Bronze Telly in 2021.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe are honored to be recognized by the Telly Awards for excellence in motion picture production,\u201d said Russell Richins, one of the producers of <em>Six Days in August. <\/em>\u201cWe strongly believe that the stories of the Restored Church can\u2014and should\u2014be told by utilizing the highest levels of talent in all aspects of filmmaking. These awards are a testament to the skills and dedicated efforts of our actors and film crew.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>Six Days in August <\/em>tells the dramatic true story of a youthful Brigham Young and the leadership succession crisis of 1844 following the martyrdom of the Prophet Joseph Smith. The title of the movie refers to the pivotal period in August of 1844 when Sidney Rigdon and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, led by Brigham Young, stated their respective claims for leadership of The <a href='https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/library\/mormonism' target='_blank'>Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints<\/a>. The Saints had never before experienced the death of a Church President; this was uncharted territory. The film introduces a young, much lesser-known Brigham Young, with exceptional spiritual gifts, as well as a history of hard work, fortitude, sacrifice, and service that uniquely prepared him to lead at that exact time.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Interpreter Foundation is a nonprofit educational organization focused on supporting The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints through scholarship, with particular emphasis on the scriptures of the Church, as well as early Latter-day Saint history, and related subjects. (Wikimedia Commons public domain photograph) \u00a0Here\u2019s a prediction: The prolonged fierce opposition to a proposed Latter-day Saint temple in Fairview (denounced by opponents as too large and too obtrusive) will be somewhat diminished, eventually, when leaders of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints agree to construct the temple within the confines of a converted 26K-gallon gas station fuel tank that will then be buried, with a concealed entrance disguised by <em>faux<\/em> brush and litter, beneath a landfill located several blocks from City Hall. \u00a0However, demands for further concessions will then be presented to Church leaders after that compromise is reached.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Yes, I\u2019m well aware of the widespread and powerful \u2014 but, thus far, completely unexpressed \u2014 desire for me to say something about the riots in Los Angeles, my native town (more or less). \u00a0So, although I won\u2019t compromise my desire to avoid partisan politics in this blog, I\u2019ll make two brief comments:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Scenes of demonstrators waving Mexican flags (and, at least once or twice that I\u2019ve seen, placards referring to the Los Angeles area as \u201cstolen land\u201d) don\u2019t exactly refute the allegation that these riots constitute an \u201cinsurgency.\u201d \u00a0(See <a href=\"https:\/\/babylonbee.com\/news\/illegals-help-film-republican-presidential-campaign-commercial?utm_source=The%20Babylon%20Bee%20Newsletter&amp;utm_medium=email\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">\u201cIllegals Help Film Republican Presidential Campaign Commercial.\u201d<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li>I\u2019m very far from a fan of either of them, but the suggestion that Gavin Newsom and Karen Bass should be arrested is worse than ridiculous; it\u2019s redolent of a Third World dictatorship. \u00a0(When I was in Iran many years ago for an academic conference, the reformist and relatively moderate mayor of Tehran was languishing in prison, having (as everybody there seemed to understand) been framed for supposed \u201ccorruption,\u201d convicted, and incarcerated by hardliners as a way of jabbing a thumb in the eye of the then-Iranian president, his friend and ally <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mohammad_Khatami\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Mohammed Khatami<\/a>, who was likewise a reformist and relatively moderate \u2014 and whom, for whatever it\u2019s worth, I once had the opportunity to meet.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>And \u2014 why not? \u2014 while I\u2019m already dangerously loitering in this politically-adjacent space, I\u2019ll mention that I saw <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/search?client=safari&amp;rls=en&amp;q=YouTube+Twilight+Zone+theme&amp;ie=UTF-8&amp;oe=UTF-8#fpstate=ive&amp;vld=cid:e5a266a1,vid:XVSRm80WzZk,st:0\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">an assertion today that 700,000 Americans were killed by the COVID vaccines.<\/a>\u00a0 \u00a0So I want to endorse that claim. \u00a0In fact, I think it\u2019s probably a gross underestimate: \u00a0At least 75,000 people died on my residential neighborhood block alone. \u00a0The change might actually be difficult to see, but our numbers at sacrament meeting may perhaps have declined somewhat, and I understand that the nearby state of Colorado has entirely ceased to exist.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_110669\"
