Luke 5:12-16<\/a><\/p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n
It\u2019s scarcely surprising that, despite the Savior\u2019s instruction not to talk about what had happened to him, the suddenly-cured leper went out and told everybody. \u00a0How could he possibly contain his joy and excitement? \u00a0And how could they possibly repress their curiosity?<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
Miracles were, as I\u2019ve said here before, not a principal purpose of Jesus\u2019 ministry. \u00a0He was happy to do them, I\u2019m sure, but people continued to get sick and die in Judea and Galilee during the three years of his preaching.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
Such notoriety, such sensational news, actually interfered with what he was trying to do. \u00a0And it attracted merely curious sign-seekers. \u00a0\u201cJesus could no longer openly enter a town,\u201d says Mark 1:45, \u201cbut was out in the country; and people came to him from every quarter.\u201d<\/p>\n
