Yesterday\u2019s FairMormon program<\/a> \u2014 which Ed Pinegar, Margaret Barker, Brant Gardner, Ron Dennis, Brittany Chapman, David Larsen, and Jim Gordon \u2014 was extremely good, and it was capped off with a dinner for speakers and FairMormon volunteers. \u00a0My wife and I sat at a table with\u00a0Margaret Barker<\/a>, Kevin Christensen<\/a>\u00a0and his wife, , John Hall<\/a>, David Larsen<\/a>, and Cassandra Hedeliius<\/a>. \u00a0Needless to say, there was good conversation, along with the good food.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

On Wednesday night, I participated in a small \u201csocial\u201d for FairMormon volunteers. \u00a0One of the highlights to me was talking with Ben Spackman, and hearing\u00a0about both his academic plans and progress of his work on the earlier chapters of Genesis. \u00a0I predict some very good things coming from his efforts. \u00a0One of them will be a book that he\u2019s hoping to finish by the end of the year. \u00a0I\u2019m looking forward to it very much, and to what will come thereafter.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Right now, we\u2019re listening to Michael Otterson<\/a>, the managing director of Public Affairs for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints<\/a>. \u00a0His remarks have been excellent, and, among other things, they would be of great specific benefit to many out there in the world of anti- and ex-Mormon message boards, whose speculations about the role and character of the Public Affairs Department are often quite estranged from reality.<\/p>\n
