I didn\u2019t know Rob Bateman well.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
Far from it, in fact. \u00a0I only met him following one of my lectures at Education Week this past August. \u00a0I had previously heard from his stake director of public affairs, and Rob Bateman and I spoke at some length by telephone in early September, I think. \u00a0He had some ambitious and visionary plans for his Church stewardship.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
This is deeply sad news.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
My prayers are with his family and with his stake.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
My reflection is that we should all act, within reason, as if today might be our last day. \u00a0(Someday, of course, it will be.) \u00a0Are we doing what we should be doing? \u00a0Is there anything that we would really hate to leave undone, should we suddenly be called home?<\/p>\n
