The idea here is clearly that, without grace, rich people won\u2019t be able to enter heaven.<\/p>\n

This happens, though, to be true for all of us, even if we\u2019re not<\/em> rich.<\/p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n
2.<\/strong><\/p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n
Obedience to God and Jesus is actually a good investment. \u00a0But it requires faith to see that. \u00a0The costs in this life can sometimes be very, very high, and the rewards won\u2019t all come until the next.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
3.<\/strong><\/p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n
Some Latter-day Saints, particularly in the nineteenth-century, have said that Joseph Smith will play some sort of role at the Judgment.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
Evangelical Christian\u00ae critics have, in many cases, been scandalized at this notion. \u00a0So far as I\u2019m aware, though, the idea that not only St. Peter but Bartholomew and Thaddaeus and Simon the Cananean will play some sort of role at the Judgment leaves them entirely unfazed.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
4.<\/strong><\/p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n
The teaching that \u201cmany that are first will be last, and the last first,\u201d should keep us humble.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
As one General Authority is said to have remarked, \u201cWhen you get to heaven, don\u2019t stare. \u00a0They\u2019ll be just as surprised to see you<\/em> there as you<\/em> are to see them<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n
