Playboy<\/em> to give up naked women is as if Campbell\u2019s were to stop making soup, or Kleenex to turn from tissues to building tractors.<\/p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n
Nevertheless, it\u2019s true.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
But the moralists out there, and those who feel (rightly, in my opinion) that Playboy<\/em> objectifies women, should take no comfort from this decision.<\/p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n
The change is purely market-driven. \u00a0As the article indicates, the easy accessibility of online pornography has left Playboy<\/em> looking a bit obsolete and old-fashioned. \u00a0It\u2019s no longer at the \u201ccutting edge.\u201d<\/p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n
In other words, society has fallen below Playboy\u2019s<\/em> lofty standards of modesty and decorum.<\/p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n
That\u2019s no cause for celebration.<\/p>\n
