Luke 19:1-10<\/a><\/p>\nCompare Matthew 18:11<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
There are at least two major points to draw from this brief passage:<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
(1) \u00a0The Lord has no hesitation about working with people who are perceived as bad, and neither should we.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
(2) \u00a0Those who are perceived as bad sometimes\u00a0aren\u2019t<\/em>. \u00a0Zacchaeus was thought to be an evil man because he was both a \u201cchief tax collector\u201d (\u1f00\u03c1\u03c7\u03b9\u03c4\u03b5\u03bb\u03ce\u03bd\u03b7\u03c2)<\/span>and \u201crich\u201d (\u03c0\u03bb\u03bf\u03cd\u03c3\u03b9\u03bf\u03c2<\/span>). \u00a0But, in fact, he was giving half of his possessions to the poor, and, whenever he thought that had wrong somebody, he restored what he reckoned to have been unjustly taken four times over. \u00a0I wonder how many of his critics, those who casually pronounced him a bad person, were doing anything even remotely<\/em> comparable.<\/p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n
