\u201cO Jerusalem, Jerusalem, killing the prophets and stoning those who are sent to you! How often would I have gathered your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you would not! \u00a0<\/span>Behold, your house is forsaken and desolate. \u00a0<\/span>For I tell you, you will not see me again, until you say, \u2018Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.\u2019\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

If Jesus is, as we\u2019re assured he is (see, for example, John 14:9<\/a>), a perfect revelation of the Father, passages such as this are deeply significant. \u00a0This one, for example, illustrates his deep but disappointed love for Jerusalem and its people. \u00a0(I\u2019ve written at some length about the general topic in an article entitled \u201cOn the Motif of the Weeping God in Moses 7.\u201d<\/a>\u00a0 And, of course, see\u00a0Moses 7<\/a>\u00a0itself.)<\/p>\n
