\"Calandrino?<\/a>
In this painting honoring St. Benedict and his \u201cRule\u201d attributed to \u201cGiuseppe Calandrino,\u201d note the representation of the Holy Trinity above the saint\u2019s head, with Jesus on the right of the image, a very tangibly corporeal Father to the left in blue, and the Holy Spirit symbolized (as usual) by a dove.

(One\u00a0\u201cCalandrino\u201d[aka \u201cNozzo di Perino\u201d] is\u00a0a fourteenth-century painter who shows up in Boccaccio\u2019s \u201cDecameron\u201d as something of a simpleton. \u00a0Perhaps unfairly. \u00a0The style of this painting doesn\u2019t seem at all 14th-century to me, though, so I wonder whether the attribution to Calandrino is correct, or whether \u201cCalandrino\u201d and this \u201cGiuseppe Calandrino\u201d are the same person.)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
