Where there is hatred, let me sow love;<\/span>
Where there is injury, pardon;<\/span>
Where there is doubt, faith;<\/span>
Where there is despair, hope;<\/span>
Where there is darkness, light;<\/span>
Where there is sadness, joy.<\/span>
O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek<\/span>
To be consoled as to console,<\/span>
To be understood as to understand,<\/span>
To be loved as to love;<\/span>
For it is in giving that we receive;<\/span>
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;<\/span>
It is in dying to self that we are born to eternal life.<\/span><\/p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n
Although it\u2019s generally ascribed to the great early-thirteenth-century saint, the prayer can\u2019t be traced back any earlier than 1912.<\/p>\n

But no matter. \u00a0It\u2019s still wonderful.<\/p>\n
