From time to time, I read claims that Islam and Muslims have contributed absolutely nothing to world civilization beyond terror and oppression. \u00a0Sometimes \u2014 to my considerable astonishment \u2014 such assertions are sent to me directly.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
A week or so ago, one poster online\u00a0explained that the golden or classical age of the Arabs (which extended, arguably, from around\u00a0800 AD until the Mongol conquest of Baghdad in 1258 AD, and which was overwhelmingly propelled by Muslim thinkers, scientists, poets, and scholars) came to an end\u00a0when Muhammad (570-632 AD) introduced\u00a0his new religion\u00a0of Islam. \u00a0(Another online commenter explained that, until roughly the nineteenth century, Egypt was 90% Christian. \u00a0Actually, though, Egypt was majority Muslim by the mid-tenth century.)<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
Anyhow, much could be written about the claim that Muslims and Islam have offered nothing but evil to the world.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
For tonight, however, I\u2019ll content myself with the image above. \u00a0It should be sufficient refutation by itself, no further comment required.<\/p>\n
