A quite long but very interesting day. \u00a0At least, I hope (and believe) that the people in the group found it so.<\/p>\n

We spent the first part of the day walking in and around the ruins of Petra. \u00a0Then we drove to Wadi Rum, where much of the story of Lawrence of Arabia took place, and where the film of that name and the recent movie The Martian<\/em> were both shot. \u00a0One of the people there told me that part of a new Star Wars<\/em> film was also photographed there a couple of months back. \u00a0We rode in the back of trucks through the wadi and had an outdoor dinner of lamb that had been cooked by bedouins. \u00a0Good clear fun, with some grit in the teeth.<\/p>\n
