One of the high points of Alma 11 is Amulek\u2019s strong testimony of the resurrection in verses 43-45:<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
The spirit and the body shall be\u00a0reunited\u00a0again in its perfect\u00a0form; both limb and joint shall be restored to its proper frame, even as we now are at this time; and we shall be brought to stand before God,\u00a0knowing\u00a0even as we know now, and have a bright\u00a0recollection\u00a0of all our\u00a0guilt. \u00a0Now, this restoration shall come to all, both old and young, both bond and free, both male and female, both the wicked and the righteous; and even there shall not so much as a hair of their heads be lost; but every thing shall be\u00a0restored\u00a0to its perfect frame, as it is now, or in the body, and shall be brought and be arraigned before the bar of Christ the Son, and God the\u00a0Father, and the Holy Spirit, which is\u00a0one Eternal God, to be\u00a0judged\u00a0according to their works, whether they be good or whether they be evil. \u00a0Now, behold, I have spoken unto you concerning the death\u00a0of the mortal body, and also concerning the resurrection\u00a0of the mortal body. I say unto you that this mortal body is\u00a0raised\u00a0to an\u00a0immortal\u00a0body, that is from death, even from the first death unto life, that they can\u00a0die no more; their spirits uniting with their bodies, never to be divided; thus the whole becoming\u00a0spiritual\u00a0and immortal, that they can no more see corruption.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n
I\u2019ve always been personally touched by the promise that not even a hair of our heads will be lost, but I\u2019m struck by the frank physicality of the resurrection as Amulek describes it. \u00a0We Latter-day Saints may take such a \u201cmaterialistic\u201d understanding of resurrection for granted; we should recall that many Christians and Christians do not, or, at least, aren\u2019t sure about the character of \u201cresurrected\u201d bodies.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
Another thing to note: \u00a0The Book of Mormon contains far stronger statements of the oneness of Father, Son, and Holy Ghost than does the New Testament. \u00a0This passage represents one such statement.<\/p>\n
