By the way, every European who has raised the issue of Donald Trump with me \u2014 and there\u2019ve been quite a number on this trip \u2014 is wondering whether America has gone mad.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
Now, I realize that Europeans are typically quite a bit to the political left of Americans. \u00a0They\u2019re certainly almost all to the left of me<\/em>. \u00a0But I find it difficult to disagree with them on this point.<\/p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n
One with whom I spoke here tonight works professionally with the military of a European country and NATO ally. \u00a0He told me that his group are assuming that, if elected, Mr. Trump will be an unpredictable and unreliable strategic partner, and they\u2019re making contingency plans on that basis.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
That\u2019s simple prudence, I think.<\/p>\n
