I have no solid proof for this, but it simply strikes me as straining credulity that Joseph Smith (or the anonymous modern writers\u2019 collective that supposedly wrote the Book of Mormon, according to some critics, if Joseph didn\u2019t) would have bothered to invent a pair of fictional prophets in order to mount an otherwise serious (and suitably ancient-sounding) argument such as this. \u00a0Intuitively, it just seems wrong. \u00a0This sounds like a real argument, appealing to the authority of people believed to be genuine.<\/p>\n

I really like Alma\u2019s argument (in 33:19-22) that it\u2019s foolish to pass an offer of salvation by when accepting it would be so very easy. \u00a0There will come a time, I\u2019m confident, when those who reject the Savior and his Gospel will see clearly how silly they\u2019ve been. \u00a0I hope, genuinely and sincerely, that there will still be a chance for them.<\/p>\n
