We\u2019ve spent many hours over the past couple of days driving through the soul-nourishing beauty of rural Norway.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

We stayed last night at R\u00f8isheim, in a mountain valley about fifteen minutes from Lom, a rustic inn that\u00a0apparently began as a post-station in the 1600s. \u00a0It\u2019s said that Ibsen and Grieg were also (repeat) guests at R\u00f8isheim, the buildings of which are all pre-modern.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

We\u2019ve passed through unspeakably gorgeous valleys. \u00a0We took a brief peek, too, at Geiranger Fjord.<\/p>\n

We crossed\u00a0through some of the mountains of Jotunheim, the traditional area of the giants of Norse mythology:<\/p>\n

And now we\u2019re in the very close vicinity of the farm where my grandmother grew up.<\/p>\n
