I\u2019ve signed a petition in favor of including the Libertarian ticket, Gary Johnson and William Weld, in the presidential debates. \u00a0It can be found here, and I encourage you to sign it, as well:<\/p>\n

I do this without having actually endorsed them. \u00a0(I may yet do so, but I haven\u2019t decided yet.) \u00a0I simply think that it would be nice to have an alternative on the debate platform to Mr. Donald J. Trump and Mrs. Hillary Rodham Clinton. \u00a0That way, maybe we\u2019ll get some grown-up discussion.<\/p>\n

In the meantime, though, another burning issue has arisen:<\/p>\n

For some men, I understand, she\u2019s the most compelling argument for voting\u00a0for The Donald. \u00a0But what if she becomes invisible? \u00a0Will there be any reason, in that case, to put him in the White House? \u00a0I<\/em> can\u2019t think of one.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Finally, a\u00a0son shared this video<\/a> with me, from back, earlier in the year, when Ted Cruz was still in the presidential race. \u00a0The contrast between quite illogical Trumpist thuggishness and Senator Cruz\u2019s earnest effort to be rational and civil could scarcely be clearer. \u00a0I realize, of course, that not all Trumpists are hateful troglodytes \u2014 and particularly not those who are supporting Mr. Trump\u00a0late, simply because he offers the only even slightly realistic vehicle for thwarting the return of Clinton Inc. to the White House \u2014 but the alarming prevalence of such thuggish behavior among Trumpists (I\u2019m not relying on news reports here; I merely have to consult my own email inbox) is one of the many things that causes me worry about Caesaro-Trumpism. \u00a0(And the idea that Ted Cruz isn\u2019t really a conservative, that he\u2019s just another corrupt Establishment politician? \u00a0Well, that\u2019s simply nuts. \u00a0If anything, my complaint about him \u2014 he wasn\u2019t my first choice for the nomination \u2014 would be that he\u2019s too strident and intransigent. \u00a0I prefer Marco Rubio and Mike Lee.)<\/p>\n
