I can understand, and am not unsympathetic to, Daniel Pipes\u2019s reasoning on burqas<\/em>, above.<\/p>\n

From what I\u2019ve seen of them, though, it doesn\u2019t seem to apply to burkinis<\/em>, which \u2014 at least in the ones that I\u2019ve seen photos of \u2014 don\u2019t appear\u00a0to permit any substantial room for hiding weapons or explosives. \u00a0(No more than there would be in a more typical dress or pantsuit.)<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, here\u2019s an interesting article about the burkini<\/em> debate and attendant issues in France.<\/p>\n
