Over the past month or two, Latter-day Saints have been rocked by unexpected revelations of sordid truths about the leadership of their church \u2014 for example, that people called to abandon their careers and give their full time to ecclesiastical service are not expected to forage in dumpsters or go door to door with begging bowls in order to support their families; that the Mormon Tabernacle Choir will once again be singing at an American presidential inauguration organized by a bipartisan congressional committee (this time, in the presence of Donald Trump, and of Barack Obama and George W. Bush and Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton and Jimmy Carter); and that members of the Twelve sometimes meet with secular (and, occasionally, even non-Mormon) experts in order to better understand\u00a0what\u2019s going on in\u00a0places like China and the Middle East and with subjects like American jurisprudence on religious liberty.<\/p>\n

In this new contest, Sic et Non<\/em> readers are invited to predict the next<\/em>\u00a0appalling horror that will emerge.<\/p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n
All they have to do is name or describe the inevitable forthcoming scandal in a comment posted either directly on the blog here or else in a Facebook post appended to this blog-entry announcement of the prize competition.<\/p>\n
