Heck, I think it may even help to explain something of the difference between the eastern and western United States<\/em>.<\/p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n
While I\u2019m at it, I\u2019ve long thought that, should Qu\u00e9b\u00e9cois separatists ever succeed in seceding from Canada, the western provinces \u2014 at least British Columbia and Alberta, and maybe some of the others \u2014 might as well join up with their southern neighbor. \u00a0After all, there\u2019s no really dramatic difference between Washington and Montana, say, and the areas immediately above them.<\/p>\n

But now, it seems, maybe we should invite Hokkaido into the Union, as well!<\/p>\n
