Pinocchio never uses his real name when he comments on my column.

The comments that typically follow my articles in the Deseret News<\/em> can sometimes be amusing. \u00a0There\u2019s a small group of people, mostly critics, who write in\u00a0every single week. \u00a0And it really doesn\u2019t matter what I say\u00a0 They never like it. \u00a0They never will like it.<\/p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n
In response to today\u2019s column, somebody from St. George, Utah, who calls himself (or herself) \u201cRed Corvette\u201d wrote as follows:<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cDr. Peterson is a continual source of amusement with his pseudo-analytic and apologetic articles and pronouncements. But after all, that is what he is paid to do.\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n
I\u2019m pleased that, if they\u2019re good for nothing else, my ridiculous antics are capable of entertaining and amusing \u201cRed Corvette,\u201d whose\u00a0comment reminds me of what Mr. Bennett says to Miss Elizabeth Bennett in Jane Austen\u2019s Pride and Prejudice<\/em>:<\/p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cFor what do we live, but to make sport for our neighbors, and laugh at them in our turn?\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n
Just for the record, though: \u00a0Not a single dime of my salary has ever come from apologetic writing. \u00a0The Church has never paid me to be an apologist. \u00a0I donate<\/em> to the Interpreter Foundation, but I receive no wage or salary from it.<\/p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n
I\u2019ve said that before. \u00a0I\u2019ll no doubt have to say it again. \u00a0Some folks, \u201cRed Corvette\u201d perhaps among them, don\u2019t seem to care much about truth or accuracy.<\/p>\n
