The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints<\/a> has issued a general statement in response to the current controversy about refugees and immigrants:<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Some have faulted it for being too vague. \u00a0I myself think that it\u2019s appropriately non-partisan. \u00a0It teaches a correct principle and allows us to govern ourselves \u2014 perhaps to examine our consciences \u2014 in the light of that principle.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s another text to consider, from Matthew 25:<\/p>\n

<\/a>\u00a031\u00a0<\/span>\u00b6When the\u00a0Son of man\u00a0shall come in his\u00a0glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/a>\u00a032\u00a0<\/span>And before him shall be gathered all\u00a0nations: and he shall\u00a0separate\u00a0them one from another, as a\u00a0shepherd divideth\u00a0his<\/span>\u00a0sheep\u00a0from the goats:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/a>\u00a033\u00a0<\/span>And he shall set the sheep on his\u00a0right hand, but the goats on the left.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n
