\u201cViewing the general conference\u00a0sessions with our family is not sufficient to bring a love for the\u00a0prophets. \u00a0On one occasion some years before my call as a General\u00a0Authority, I conducted a meeting presided over by one of\u00a0the Apostles.\u00a0\u00a0After the meeting, I asked him about his stake conference talks. \u00a0\u201cDo\u00a0you prepare something specific for each stake conference?\u201d \u00a0I\u00a0asked. \u00a0He replied that he\u00a0generally did not,\u00a0but relied upon the promptings\u00a0received just prior to and during the conference.\u00a0\u00a0But then he added, \u201cBut my general conference talk is very\u00a0different. \u00a0I will normally go through twelve to fifteen drafts to be\u00a0certain that it is what the Lord would have me\u00a0say.\u201d \u00a0Many times\u00a0since then I have asked myself, \u201cIf an Apostle will go through twelve to\u00a0fifteen drafts, is it pleasing to the Lord if I\u00a0listen to or read his message one or two times?\u201d \u00a0I don\u2019t think\u00a0so.\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\nElder Neil L Andersen (then of the Seventy), Ensign <\/em>(April 1996), 47<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n
