Some extreme critics of Mormonism<\/a> in particular and of religious faith more generally think that the world would be a much better place without them.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

That\u2019s debatable, to say the least of it.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Here are two recent examples of good being done by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints<\/a>, from among literally thousands of instances that might be cited:<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cNew LDS pilot programs bring education to Mormon children in island nations\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Some critics of Mormonism allow that it does some<\/em> good, but not enough<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Perhaps they themselves are doing absolutely spectacular things. \u00a0If so, more power to them! \u00a0Color me skeptical, though. \u00a0On the whole, studies seem to indicate that, while secular types may talk a lot about helping the poor and the needy and working for a better world, it\u2019s those benighted religious people, on the whole, who do the bulk of the heavy lifting. \u00a0(On which, see here<\/a> and here<\/a>.)<\/p>\n
