Here\u2019s an article from way back in 2012, published in the Jesuit (Catholic) magazine America<\/em>, that some might find of interest in view of the recurrent claim that\u00a0Mormons don\u2019t give enough to charity, are too selfish, spend too much on their silly churches and ridiculous temples, are ignoring the teachings of Christ about love and service, and etc. and etc. \u00a0It was written by Dr. John J. Dilulio, Jr., who is currently Frederic Fox Leadership Professor of Politics, Religion, and Civil Society and Professor of Political Science at the University of Pennsylvania, and who\u00a0served as the first director of the White House Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives\u00a0under President George W. Bush:<\/p>\n

Incidentally, if you\u2019ve grown tired of accusations that Mormons aren\u2019t living up to the teachings of Christ on this matter, and that the Church only cares, greedily and selfishly, about making money, consider setting aside\u00a0a few extra dollars for\u00a0LDS Charities or Humanitarian Services today or for your next fast offering today. \u00a0Or send it directly in right now. \u00a0Or send something to a private LDS charity like the Liahona Children\u2019s Foundation<\/a>. \u00a0It needn\u2019t be a huge amount. \u00a0Even five or ten bucks will serve. \u00a0I guarantee that it will cheer you up. \u00a0It did me<\/em>. \u00a0And nothing could \u2014 certainly spending the day squabbling with them online won\u2019t \u2014\u00a0more effectively and substantively prove our critics wrong.<\/p>\n
