<\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I think that I\u2019m going to write an article about the Thai civil war of 1703-1709 tomorrow.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I know absolutely nothing about Thai history (though I do really like Thai food). \u00a0Heck, I don\u2019t even know whether there <em>was<\/em> ever a Thai civil war. \u00a0Nor, if there was, when it <em>happened<\/em>. \u00a0(I made those dates up out whole cloth.)<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Apparently, my fixation on \u201cknowing something\u201d about a subject before propounding grand theories regarding\u00a0it is <em>pass\u00e9<\/em>. \u00a0I\u2019m a fossil. \u00a0A relic.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But, still, I confess that I grow impatient at\u00a0things like this. \u00a0Instead of writing nonsense about trivial \u201cmicroagressions\u201d and whining about \u201csafe spaces,\u201d these folks might consider devoting\u00a0that time to, say, volunteering at a soup kitchen or working for an organization that fights human trafficking (I have a <a href=\"https:\/\/ourrescue.org\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">suggestion<\/a>) or raising money to combat child hunger in poor countries (as <a href=\"https:\/\/liahonachildren.org\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">this organization<\/a> does), or doing something <em>else<\/em> that would really contribute to helping with real problems. \u00a0Moral preening and nagging is both too easy and, on the whole, without
