By contrast, the Edict of Milan, issued by Constantine the Great and Licinius, came in February 313 AD, and merely granted \u201ctoleration\u201d to Christianity, within the borders of the Roman Empire. \u00a0Proclamation of Christianity as the official imperial religion of the Romans had to wait until Theodosius I, in AD 380.<\/p>\n
