\u00a0<\/p>\n

For what it\u2019s worth, I\u2019m saddened by the number of young people who\u2019re sporting tattoos these days. \u00a0They generally look pretty bad from a distance \u2014 like bruises or discolored blotches \u2014 and, while they\u2019re perhaps fun (and maybe even, sometimes, cute\u00a0up close) for a short while, I don\u2019t like the fact\u00a0that they\u2019re essentially permanent. \u00a0You can change your outfit, but you can\u2019t change your tats. \u00a0What once seemed attractive or funny may lose its charm after, say, ten or forty years. \u00a0And just wait until the skin begins to age and sag, as it inevitably will. \u00a0I think it would be wise to invest in tattoo-removal. \u00a0Within a decade or two, I expect that to be a booming and lucrative industry.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

But here\u2019s a little item about a venerable but perhaps rather surprising tradition of Christian tattooing:<\/p>\n
