Interpreter: A Journal of Mormon Scripture<\/em> published a review last Friday of a book in which I actually have a chapter. \u00a0The review was written by Steven T. Densley Jr., and is titled \u201cShould We Apologize for Apologetics?\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

At one point, the review reads as follows:<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

A few positive articles appear in the volume, but these few essays do\u00a0not entirely salvage what may have otherwise been\u00a0a very important\u00a0contribution to the study of Mormon theology<\/u><\/b>.\u00a0It would have been\u00a0marvelous<\/u><\/b>\u00a0to see a book that explored the history of Mormon apologetics,\u00a0the variety of topics that have been addressed, the way in which\u00a0critics have responded to\u00a0apologetic arguments, and more important, the\u00a0way in which apologetics has affected the lives of ordinary Mormons<\/a>.\u00a0Unfortunately, we must still await such a volume.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Here is how that passage was then used by the publisher of the volume in an online advertisement:<\/p>\n

To its credit, as of the time that I\u2019m writing this\u00a0the publisher of the book (and of the advertisement) has indicated its gratitude for having this matter called to its attention and has promised that, if its leaders determine that Steve Densley\u2019s statement in his review for Interpreter<\/em> has, in fact, actually been misrepresented, it will make a correction.<\/p>\n
