I emphasize that the organizations haven\u2019t merged. \u00a0They will cooperate, but they will continue to function independently. \u00a0Their budgets will be separate, as before. \u00a0Their agendas will be determined separately, as before. \u00a0And, of course, potential donors can still give to them separately.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
One of our concerns, though, was that some who have wanted to support the kinds of work that they do have been baffled by their multiplicity, seeing them as competitive or at least confusing, wondering where they should put their money. \u00a0Mormon Voices will solve this problem. \u00a0Its leadership comes from all three constituent organizations and, together, they will oversee the allocation of funds given to the common cause.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
I\u2019m grateful for the generosity of those who\u2019ve made the Interpreter Foundation possible, not only by means of donated funds but donated time and labor.\u00a0 Over the five-plus years of its existence, volunteers have reported approximately 20,000 hours of labor contributed to Interpreter, worth (conservatively speaking) at least $900,000\u2014and many of our volunteers don\u2019t report their time. \u00a0(Some regard it as a matter of principle not<\/em> to do so, despite my pleas.) \u00a0Moreover, that figure doesn\u2019t count the time given by our roughly 122 authors.\u00a0 It doesn\u2019t, for example, reflect Royal Skousen\u2019s years of consecrated effort.<\/p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n
We have great ideas, though, for the future. \u00a0I invite everybody who cares about advocating and defending the faith in the manner of\u00a0FairMormon, Book of Mormon Central, and the Interpreter Foundation to consider at least a small donation to them, either individually or, through Mormon Voices, collectively.<\/p>\n

Elder Neal A. Maxwell was fond of a quotation from Austin Farrer about C. S. Lewis.\u00a0 It became something of an unofficial motto for the old FARMS, and it\u2019s very much on my mind in my work on behalf of the Interpreter Foundation and as I think of the Mormon Voices Association:<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is commonly said that if rational argument is so seldom the cause of conviction, philosophical [and scholarly] apologists must largely be wasting their shot. The premise is true, but the conclusion does not follow. For though argument does not create conviction, the lack of it destroys belief.
