Nelson\u2019s encouragement to use the actual name of the <a href='https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/library\/mormonism' target='_blank'>Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints<\/a> could do some real good.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>***<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A reminder from the invaluable (though, at the moment, sadly under the weather) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mormoninterpreter.com\/author\/robertb\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Robert Boylan<\/a> of Ireland:<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/scripturalmormonism.blogspot.com\/2018\/10\/stephen-smoot-et-incarnatus-est.html\" rel=\"nofollow\" data-item-type=\"post\" data-id=\"5546016258429704451\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">\u201cStephen Smoot, Et Incarnatus Est: The Imperative for Book of Mormon Historicity\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>And another approach to the same topic, from <a href=\"https:\/\/bookofmormoncentral.org\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Book of Mormon Central<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/knowhy.bookofmormoncentral.org\/content\/why-is-the-book-of-mormons-historical-authenticity-so-important\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">\u201cWhy Is the Book of Mormon\u2019s Historical Authenticity So Important?\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>***<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I am, alas, under absolutely no delusion that Brigham Young University, where I teach, is exempt from, or untouched by, the left-leaning viruses, endemic to American higher education, to which Graham Hillard refers in the article below. \u00a0But BYU is still a reasonably diverse place, politically and intellectually speaking \u2014 I know that some will scoff at that claim, but it remains true nonetheless \u2014 and conservatives haven\u2019t yet been hunted from its classrooms and hallways:<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/magazine\/2018\/11\/12\/christian-colleges-religious-higher-education\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">\u201cThe Case for Christian Colleges:\u00a0They provide a refuge of quality instruction and intellectual diversity\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993300;\"><strong>***<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m really proud of the Church for establishing and supporting this program:<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lds.org\/church\/news\/ten-years-of-byu-pathway-program-brings-education-to-tens-of-thousands?lang=eng\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">\u201cTen Years of BYU\u2013Pathway Program Brings Education to Tens of Thousands\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #993300;\">***<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Finally, three quotations from President Dallin H. Oaks, first counselor in the First Presidency of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints:<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #993300;\">Tolerance obviously requires a non-contentious manner of relating toward one another\u2019s differences. But tolerance does not require abandoning one\u2019s standards or one\u2019s opinions on political or public policy choices. Tolerance is a way of reacting to diversity, not a command to insulate it from examination. \u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #993300;\">You can never get enough of what you don\u2019t need, because what you don\u2019t need won\u2019t satisfy you.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993300;\"><strong>Our priorities are most visible in how we use our time. Someone has said, \u201cThree things never come back\u2014the spent arrow, the spoken word, and the lost opportunity.\u201d We cannot recycle or save the time allotted to us each day. With time, we have only one opportunity for choice, and then it is gone
