Although I\u2019ve posted nothing about the man recently, I\u2019ve come under attack over the past couple of days for my lack of sufficiently reverent devotion to Mr. Donald J. Trump, Leader of the United States, and my failure to recognize that criticisms of him constitute the crime of\u00a0l\u00e8se majest\u00e9<\/em>, which is a serious offense in absolute monarchies and third-world dictatorships.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n I plead guilty. \u00a0I simply cannot muster the servility that is required of me. \u00a0My parents raised me badly, I guess.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Thus, I\u2019ve been inspired to post a few links to recent articles that I\u2019ve liked, on the subject of Mr. Donald J. Trump, Leader of the United States, that I\u2019ve liked.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n The first one, by Mitt Romney, has drawn quite a bit of attention since it was published on 1 January, but it\u2019s possible that you missed it. \u00a0Having read it, one commenter on my blog suggests (just a sentence or two after calling the late John McCain \u201ctreasonous\u201d) that Mr. Romney is very possibly involved in international child sex trafficking.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n I dunno. \u00a0That seems a bit of a leap to me. \u00a0I don\u2019t think that the article quite justifies the commenter\u2019s conclusion. \u00a0But you can judge for yourself:<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cMitt Romney: The president shapes the public character of the nation. Trump\u2019s character falls short.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Of course, that same commenter \u2014 I think that I\u2019ll call him Der St\u00fcrmer<\/a> \u2014 contends that\u00a0\u201cWhat is happening behind the scenes right now in our country and the world as The Storm arrives and President Trump and the greatest military power in the history of the world destroys the world wide corruption and incomprehensible crimes against humanity perpetrated by the Deep State is giving me hope.\u201d<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Moreover, he says \u2014 clearly fantasizing about putting political figures of whom he disapproves in concentration camps \u2014 \u201cGuantanamo Bay has been remodeled with over two divisions of troops stationed there and prepared for the mass influx of treasonous and seditious politicians and Government officials (Think Comey, Clapper, Brennan, The entire Obama administration along with the likes of Paul Ryan and numerous corrupt judges and state politicians)\u201d<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n O glorious day!<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cThe Great Awakening is here,\u201d he proclaims. \u00a0\u201cThe Storm has arrived and the swamp is being drained here and now starting in Europe. Viva la Resistance and the Gilles Jaunes!\u201d<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n I was in downtown Paris on Saturday night, and I saw the smashed windows, the scores of burned out motorcycles, and the smoldering cars left behind by the gilets jaunes<\/em> just an hour or two before I arrived on the scene. \u00a0If you liked Kristallnacht, the Watts riots, and the Somalia of Black Hawk Down<\/em>, you\u2019ll resonate with Der St\u00fcrmer\u2019s dream for our future.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Another commenter on my blog has already pronounced Mitt Romney\u2019s tenure in the Senate a failure, complaining that Mr. Romney should have spent his time in the Senate representing Utah and doing good rather than being so horribly \u201cjudgmental.\u201d<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Now, I haven\u2019t done any serious mathematics in years, but Mitt Romney\u00a0published his article on Tuesday, 1 January 2019, and that seems to me to have been approximately two days before he was\u00a0sworn in as a member of the Senate on Thursday, 3 January. \u00a0Moreover, I\u2019m reasonably confident that he wrote<\/em> the article even before<\/em> it was published. \u00a0And, as of this writing, Mr. Romney has been in office for only four days. \u00a0So I think it\u2019s just a tad premature to write his Senate term off as a failure.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Here\u2019s a slightly odd comment on Mr. Romney\u2019s article that some will find interesting:<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cSen.
