Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints<\/a>.<\/p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n
There\u2019s no great urgency to the request, but I thought that I would write up some initial notes. \u00a0Here goes:<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
Muslims regard Jesus as the sinless son of Mary \u2014 uniquely and miraculously having a mother but no father \u2014 and as, perhaps second only to Muhammad, one of the very greatest of all prophets. \u00a0Like all humans, he is a creature, a servant of God, divinely created (not begotten). \u00a0Known in the Qur\u2019an as al-Masih<\/em>, an Arabic form of the Hebrew\u00a0m\u0101\u0161\u00eea\u1e25<\/i> or messiah<\/em>, he performed miracles during his lifetime before being assumed into heaven while his enemies thought that they were killing him on the cross. \u00a0He will return at the end of time as part of the Last Days and will defeat the Deceiver (al-Dajj\u0101<\/i>l<\/em>) in battle prior to the great \u201cDay of Reckoning\u201d or \u201cDay of Judgment.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n
Latter-day Saints regard Jesus as the sinless son of both Mary and, in some unexplained way, of God the Father. \u00a0He was the firstborn Son of God in the pre-existent world and the Only Begotten Son of God in this world. \u00a0Having been the Jehovah of the Hebrew Bible or Old Testament, a divine member of the Godhead, he descended to earth and took upon himself a physical body as the promised Jewish Messiah. \u00a0He worked miracles during his earthly ministry, and his death at the hands of sinful mortals atones for the sins of all who accept his grace, making him\u00a0the pivot on which the plan of salvation rests, the indispensable mediator and intercessor between humans and the Father. \u00a0However, he overcame death, rising physically from the tomb and thereby enabling the eventual resurrection of all humanity. \u00a0He will return in power to inaugurate a thousand-year reign of peace and, at the very end of time, to judge the living and the dead.<\/span><\/p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n
I\u2019m not entirely satisfied with these, and they\u2019re only hasty and preliminary drafts. \u00a0One of my goals \u2014 I\u2019ve clearly not fulfilled it yet \u2014 is to make them roughly of equal length, because I\u2019m not trying to privilege one over the other. \u00a0(I don\u2019t think that that\u2019s what is wanted.) \u00a0I\u2019m also not trying to make the Latter-day Saint viewpoint the default position, even though it\u2019s mine, and, thus, I don\u2019t want to emphasize what Muslims don\u2019t believe about Jesus.<\/p>\n

Anyway, feedback would be welcome. \u00a0Have I left anything obvious or crucial out? \u00a0They can perhaps be a bit longer, though I think not twice<\/em> as long.<\/p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n
