Preserved at Kibbutz Ginnosar on the (north)western shore of the Sea of Galilee, it provides an excellent example of what the boats used by Jesus and his disciples probably looked like.<br>(Wikimedia Commons public domain image)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lds.org\/scriptures\/nt\/matt\/8.23-27\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Matthew 8:23-27<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lds.org\/scriptures\/nt\/mark\/4.35-41?lang=eng\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Mark 4:35-41<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lds.org\/scriptures\/nt\/luke\/8.22-25\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Luke 8:22-25<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Compare Matthew 8:18<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #003300;\"><strong>1.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The image of Jesus asleep in the back of the boat, and so <em>soundly<\/em> asleep that even a turbulent\u00a0<em>storm<\/em> doesn\u2019t wake him, is significant. \u00a0It highlights his humanness. \u00a0He was physically exhausted. \u00a0The constant press of crowds, the long and strenuous walks all over Palestine (including substantial\u00a0changes in elevation), the preaching \u2014 all of these took their toll on him. \u00a0And so did healing. \u00a0(Recall the case where he knew that somebody had been healed because he perceived that \u201cvirtue\u201d \u2014 or \u201cstrength\u201d or \u201cpower\u201d \u2014 had gone out of him [Mark 5:30; Luke 8:46].)<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #003300;\"><strong>2.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Sea of Galilee is especially prone to sudden and fairly violent storms, for very specific topographical reasons. \u00a0(There\u2019s a concise and clear explanation of the phenomenon\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/christiananswers.net\/q-eden\/ednk-seaofgalilee.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">here<\/a> \u2014 and no, it doesn\u2019t matter that the person doing the explanation\u00a0is a creationist. \u00a0That\u2019s irrelevant; his explanation of this matter is accurate.) \u00a0Luke\u2019s description of\u00a0\u201ca storm of wind [that] came down on the lake\u201d (<span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u03ba\u03b1\u03c4\u03ad\u03b2\u03b7 \u03bb\u03b1\u1fd6\u03bb\u03b1\u03c8 \u1f00\u03bd\u03ad\u03bc\u03bf\u03c5 \u03b5\u1f30\u03c2 \u03c4\u1f74\u03bd \u03bb\u03af\u03bc\u03bd\u03b7\u03bd) is precisely correct;
