John 6:1-15<\/a><\/p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n
Jesus\u2019\u00a0miraculous feeding of the multitude is attested in all four of the gospels, in both John and the synoptics.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s important to read it as illustrating not merely Christ\u2019s supernatural power but his compassion. \u00a0He felt pity for those who were following him because they were \u201csheep without a shepherd.\u201d<\/p>\n

He chose Abraham. \u00a0Later, he chose Israel. \u00a0From Israel, he chose Moses. \u00a0He gave the Israelites instructions about minute details of their diet and their behavior.<\/p>\n

Jesus asked, \u201cWhat is the price of two sparrows \u2014 one copper coin? But not a single sparrow can fall to the ground without your Father knowing it\u201d (Matthew 10:29, New Living Translation).<\/span><\/p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n
In this story, the God who formed the stars is represented as caring about providing some bread and fish for a ragtag crowd of Galilean peasants.<\/p>\n

Let the atheists mock. \u00a0Latter-day Saints are in good, and solidly Abrahamic, company on this issue.<\/p>\n
