Even a vacancy in the Twelve went unfilled.<\/a><\/p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n
So I\u2019ve come to take such rumors and speculations with considerable skepticism.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
Of course, as I write there\u2019s still one more session to go this afternoon. \u00a0So anything might happen.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
But there are already eleven temples under renovation, twelve more temples under construction, and a further twenty seven temples that have been announced \u2014 for a total of fifty (50) temples pending. \u00a0It shouldn\u2019t be all that surprising that there might occasionally be a pause in temple announcements!<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
In a way, having no announcements \u2014 apart, of course, from the introduction and sustaining of a new Sunday School General Presidency and ten new members of the Seventy, which should certainly not be overlooked \u2014 is very good for the Saints. \u00a0(And I include myself among those who stand to benefit, and who may need a bit of a minor course correction.) \u00a0Watching or listening to Conference should not be merely a matter of \u201chaving itching ears,\u201d in the manner of the apostates of whom Paul prophesied (2 Timothy 4:3). \u00a0Nor should we be like \u201call the Athenians and strangers which were there [who] spent their time in nothing else, but either to tell, or to hear some new thing\u201d (Acts 17:21).<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
The basic doctrines, the stories, and the moral teachings of the Gospel are also<\/em> worth discussing.<\/p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n
1. Sweet is the work, my God, my King,<\/span><\/strong>
\nTo praise thy name, give thanks and sing,<\/span><\/strong>
\nTo show thy love by morning light,<\/span><\/strong>
