Latter-day Saints are, thus, scripturally commanded not to be anti-Semites. \u00a0Quite to the contrary, in fact. \u00a0Unsurprisingly, therefore, Latter-day Saints have a justified reputation for philo<\/em>-Semitism and they feel themselves specifically akin to ancient Israel. \u00a0That\u2019s why Utah \u2014 a place to which the nineteenth-century camp of Israel was led by prophets and patriarchs and high priests, headed by a \u201cmodern Moses\u201d who presided over orders of priesthood named after Aaron and Melchizedek that see themselves as \u201cthe seed of Abraham\u201d \u2014 is sprinkled with temples and tabernacles and studded with place names derived from the Old Testament such as\u00a0Canaan Mountain, Eden, Enoch, Ephraim, the Jordan River (connecting a fresh water \u201csea\u201d to a salty one),\u00a0Moab, Mount Nebo, Noah\u2019s Ark, Salem, Three Patriarchs, and Zion.<\/p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n
