I don\u2019t know that this has any direct relevance to the claims of the Book of Mormon, but it does \u2014 at a minimum \u2014 illustrate how very much we still have to learn about the peopling of the Western hemisphere and how complex and multifold that process appears to have been:<\/p>\n

(Was this morning\u2019s Utah earthquake an attempt to change the subject and to give us something else to talk about? \u00a0I think that it may have awakened me, by the way, but I didn\u2019t feel it. \u00a0Despite growing up in southern California only a few miles from Caltech [the birthplace and original home of the fabled Richter Scale], I have somehow managed never to have felt an earthquake. \u00a0I\u2019ve always been away from home, or in an airplane, or asleep, or something of that sort. \u00a0I freely confess, though, that that\u2019s not a gap that I feel any great need to fill.)<\/p>\n
