the ongoing website<\/a> \u2014 that are essential to the undertaking.<\/p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n
The dramatic film, obviously, came first.\u00a0 And it still has life in it, not only in the handful of theaters where it continues to be shown but in the form of DVDs and streaming.\u00a0 (It will also, when it appears in those forms, be available in Spanish, Portuguese, and French.)\u00a0 The docudrama is substantially finished, and I expect it to begin to appear in October, or thereabouts.\u00a0 (We haven\u2019t yet quite decided how and where.)\u00a0 It will, as I\u2019ve previously said, extend our coverage beyond the Three Witnesses who were the focus of the theatrical film:\u00a0 It will also briefly cover the Eight Witnesses and the additional informal or unofficial witnesses.\u00a0 The \u201csnippets\u201d will be drawn from footage that we generated for the theatrical film and the documentary film (some of which will have already appeared and some of which will not) but will also include unique material specifically created for inclusion in these 3-5-minute short features.\u00a0 And then there\u2019s the website, which will have a life of its own, both accompanying the films and standing independent of them as a useful resource in and of itself.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m deeply grateful to all of those who have made these things possible and who continue to make them possible.\u00a0 It\u2019s amazing to me what has been accomplished thus far.<\/p>\n

And I\u2019m pleased to report that we\u2019re already discussing a future film project, on a subject that I\u2019m not yet willing to disclose.<\/p>\n

I meant to conclude my account of our recent sojourn at the Utah Shakespeare Festival down in Cedar City, Utah, but I\u2019ve been running pretty consistently behind since then.\u00a0 Still, I know that some of my harshest and most obsessive critics absolutely live to hear about the plays and the concerts that I attend, and I don\u2019t want to let them down.\u00a0 (They also love to hear about good restaurants where I\u2019ve eaten, but I\u2019ve never been very consistent on that topic.)<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
Anyhow, the last play that we attended in Cedar City \u2014 as always, we saw all of them \u2014 was The Comedy of Errors<\/em>.\u00a0 It was played in a maximally slapstick fashion, with clothing apparently inspired by late 1960s psychedelic fashion.\u00a0 Think Austin Powers and Sgt. Pepper\u2019s Lonely Hearts Club Band<\/em>.\u00a0 But we enjoyed it quite a bit.\u00a0 In fact, we think that 2021\u2019s line-up of plays was one of the most consistently solid seasons that we seen in many years of faithful attendance.\u00a0 The only one that we didn\u2019t much like was The Comedy of T<\/strong><\/em>errors<\/em>, but we seem to have been very much in the minority, judging from the general reaction of the audience.<\/p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n
That was Saturday night.\u00a0 On Monday night, we were up at the Hale Centre Theatre in Sandy, Utah, at a performance of Always . . . Patsy Cline<\/em>.\u00a0 It was, as Hale Centre Theatre performances always are, extremely good.\u00a0 I was surprised, too, at how many of Patsy Cline\u2019s songs I recognized.\u00a0 I\u2019m not an especially devoted or knowledgeable fan of country music, and she was killed in an airplane crash when I was still quite young, but I was familiar with roughly eighty percent of the songs in the show.<\/p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n
And lessee.\u00a0 What else have I been up to?\u00a0 Last Saturday night, I did a virtual fireside on Islam for a network of folks centered in but extending far beyond Bainbridge Island, Washington.\u00a0 I\u2019ve already mentioned that.\u00a0 And, on Sunday night, as is my monthly practice of late, I did a virtual fireside on the Doctrine and Covenants (the Come Follow Me lessons for the following month) for a group up in Salt Lake City.\u00a0 And, over the past week, my wife and I have been hosting the world\u2019s cutest 4.5-year-old and her devoted father.\u00a0 Life is good.\u00a0 Hectic, but good.<\/p>\n
