The series, called \u201cTime Vindicates the Prophets,\u201d was given in answer to those who were challenging the right of members of the <a href='https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/library\/mormonism' target='_blank'>Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints<\/a> to call themselves Christians.<\/p>\n<p>All thirty recordings are available immediately in the <em>Complete Bibliography for Hugh Nibley (CBHN)<\/em>\u00a0at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/interpreterfoundation.org\/bibliographies\/hugh-w-nibley\/lectures\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">https:\/\/interpreterfoundation.org\/bibliographies\/hugh-w-nibley\/lectures\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m really excited about having these lectures up online.\u00a0 They are superb, thought-provoking, and, I think, important.\u00a0 Nibley at his best.\u00a0 I once listened to all of them on cassette tapes while doing a solo drive from our home in Orem to a destination in Berkeley, California.\u00a0 I finished the last of them mere minutes before reaching the end of my drive.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/interpreterfoundation.org\/cfm-roundtable-old-testament-2022-lesson-26\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Audio Roundtable: <em>Come, Follow Me<\/em> Old Testament Lesson 26 <em>\u201cThy Kingdom Shall Be Established for Ever\u201d<\/em>: 2 Samuel 5\u20137; 11\u201312; 1 Kings 3; 8; 11<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Interpreter Radio Roundtable for <em>Come, Follow Me<\/em>\u00a0Old Testament Lesson 26,\u00a0<em>\u201cThy Kingdom Shall Be Established for Ever,\u201d<\/em> on 2 Samuel 5\u20137; 11\u201312; 1 Kings 3; 8; 11, features Bruce Webster, Mike Parker, and Kris Frederickson. apart from that very first time, I\u2019ve never visited the Wieskirche with a group.\u00a0 But, this time, a local woman who identified herself as the music director for the Wieskirche gave a lecture about the church (<em>auf Deutsch<\/em>; our German guide translated it into English for our group) and then, wonderfully, sang and played the church\u2019s pipe organ.\u00a0 Her first piece was Johann Sebastian Bach\u2019s peerless <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=y3AiGw8mkq0\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Toccata and Fugue in D minor<\/a>, which has been one of my absolute favorite pieces of music since I first encountered it as a high school student (possibly in my German class but most memorably in Disney\u2019s <em>Fantasia<\/em>).\u00a0 It was, by the way, interesting to hear the music of Bach, who is surely one of the very most Protestant of German composers, played in what is certainly one of the most exuberantly Catholic of all German churches.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Amusingly, after she finished her presentation and as we were getting up and preparing to exit the church, the organ began to play a very powerful and well-executed version of \u201cCome, Come, Ye Saints.\u201d\u00a0 I look up trying to see who was playing.\u00a0 I looked around to see who was missing from our group.\u00a0 (We have a retired Utah State University professor of music history along with us, to name one potential suspect.\u00a0 I made some remarks today on the bus about Richard Wagner, his operas, and his relationship with King Ludwig II of Bavaria, and he kindly supplemented them with some very insightful music-historical additions.)\u00a0 It turned out that another Latter-day Saint group had entered the church, and it was a woman of their number.\u00a0 I talked to her afterward.\u00a0 She had simply asked whether she might be allowed to play the organ, and, astoundingly, the church\u2019s music director had said \u201cYes!\u201d\u00a0 The Latter-day Saint woman had, her husband told me, played the Tabernacle organ, the Conference Center organ, and the organ in Salt Lake City\u2019s Cathedral of the Madeleine.\u00a0 Her level of experience on big pipe organs was pretty obvious.\u00a0 Then, a few minutes later, a man from that same Latter-day Saint group played \u201cAs I Have Loved You.\u201d\u00a0 Really nice.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_95450\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-95450\" style=\"width: 597px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/186\/2022\/06\/IMG_5085.jpeg\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-95450\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/186\/2022\/06\/IMG_5085.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"597\" height=\"448\"><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-95450\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">My wife took this photograph with my cell phone shortly after sunset, looking from the balcony of our hotel room toward F\u00fcssen, the castle of Neuschwanstein, and some of the Bavarian Alps.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>After enjoying lunch about fifty feet from the entrance to the Wieskirche, we took our group past the castles of Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau into the town of F\u00fcssen, where we gave them about two and a half or three hours to walk around the old pedestrian area in its heart.\u00a0 Some went to the town\u2019s medieval fortress.\u00a0 We spent almost all of our time, along with a number of others, in F\u00fcssen\u2019s surprisingly interesting museum, which occupies the site of the formerly very rich and powerful monastery of St. Mang or St. Magnus.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\">Posted from Buching, Halblech, Bavaria, Germany<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0 \u00a0 *** \u00a0 Here are some new items that have recently gone up on the website of the Interpreter Foundation: \u00a0 Nibley Lectures: Time Vindicates the Prophets\u00a0\u2014 Introduction From 7 March 1954 to 17 October in 1954, Hugh Nibley delivered a series of thirty weekly lectures on KSL Radio that were also published as [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1019,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-95439","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-uncategorized"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v21.1 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/wordpress\/plugins\/seo\/ -->\n<title>Stunning man-made beauty in the midst of stunning natural beauty<\/title>\n<meta name=\"description\" content=\"&nbsp;
