John 3:36<\/strong> He who believes [pistuo<\/em>] in the Son has eternal life; he who does not obey [apitheo<\/em>] the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God rests upon him. (1 Pet 2:7 uses the same parallelism, with pistuo<\/em> and apitheo<\/em>, though RSV translates the latter as \u201cdo not believe.\u201d KJV renders it as \u201cdisobedient\u201d in the same way that Jn 3:36 and several other verses [Rom 1:30; 2 Tim 3:2; Titus 1:6; 3:3] do)<\/p>\nJohn 4:36-38<\/strong> He who reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit for eternal life, so that sower and reaper may rejoice together. The Greek word for \u201ccleansed\u201d used here is\u00a0katharizo<\/em>. It is used many times in the Gospels in reference to the cleansing of lepers (e.g., Mt 10:8; Lk 7:22).<\/p>\n*Acts 26:18<\/strong> to open their eyes, that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me. [Phillips: \u201cmade holy by their faith in me\u201d]<\/p>\nRomans 1:5, 17<\/strong> through whom we have received grace and apostleship to bring about the obedience of faith for the sake of his name among all the nations, . . . [17] For in it the righteousness of God is revealed through faith for faith; as it is written, \u201cHe who through faith is righteous shall live.\u201d (cf. Acts 6:7)<\/p>\nRomans 1:18\u00a0<\/b>For the\u00a0wrath of God\u00a0is revealed from heaven against all\u00a0ungodliness and\u00a0wickedness\u00a0of men who by their wickedness\u00a0suppress the truth.<\/p>\n

[10] Because you have kept my word of patient endurance, I will keep you from the hour of trial which is coming on the whole world, to try those who dwell upon the earth. [11] I am coming soon; hold fast what you have, so that no one may seize your crown.
