A friend responds to my story about the Southern Baptist evangelist James Robison, High Fivin\u2019 the Pope<\/a>, with a story of her own.<\/p>\n

Several months ago I happened to\u00a0see an interview Robison had with a prominent Protestant minister who\u00a0lives in Argentina. He told Robison\u00a0that Pope Francis had been his spiritual director in Argentina before\u00a0he became pope. This minister saw him regularly for spiritual\u00a0direction \u2014 I think once a month.<\/p>\n

Anyway, when Francis became Pope Francis, the Protestant minister\u00a0told Robison, \u201cI never expected to hear from him again.\u201d But it\u00a0wasn\u2019t long before he got a phone call from the new pope. Pope\u00a0Francis said, \u201cIsn\u2019t it time for our monthly meeting?\u201d And the\u00a0minister flew to Rome for his spiritual direction. I suppose it\u2019s\u00a0still going on.<\/p>\n

Robison heaped praises on Pope Francis and said how much he\u00a0respected, admired, and loved him.<\/p>\n

Which was, as I wrote in the article<\/a>, what I saw as well.<\/p>\n
