Yesterday, I <\/span>wrote <\/span><\/a>about the four girls in Wendy\u2019s who were sitting at a table together, so entrenched in music and texting that they ignored each other. The social implications of all our \u201cdevices\u201d is untold, yet frightening. <\/span>

<\/span>
Glenn Young,<\/strong> over at <\/span>Faith Fiction and Friends<\/span><\/a> wrote about a similiar incident, while he stood in line with six other people who were all talking on their phones on the same time. <\/span>

<\/span>
He says that his wife calls\u00a0his Blackberry, <\/span>\u201cMy Precious,<\/span><\/a>\u201d acknowledging\u00a0his dependence on the device. \u201cWhat is it that so mesmerizes us?\u201d he asks. \u201cWhat is it that makes us ignore our kids and spouses, ignore where we\u2019re driving, and turns our attention?\u201d<\/span>

It isn\u2019t just\u00a0grandpas like Glynn. Even the young are questioning it all.\u00a0My son, who works in the high tech<\/span> industry<\/span><\/a> wrote this on his <\/span>Facebook<\/span><\/a> page. \u201cI\u2019m thinking of doing the opposite as everyone else and downgrading my phone, if not get rid of altogether. You got my email, work cell or you\u00a0can message me here right?\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
