The trends in society are staggering. My, \u00a0how far we\u2019ve fallen since I\u2019ve first been\u00a0cognizant\u00a0of the world around me.\u00a0<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Here in the Denver area, there are more medical marijuana\u00a0dispensaries<\/a>\u00a0than there are Starbucks. And we have a lot of Starbucks.\u00a0<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
I read about the military gay pride\u00a0parade<\/a>\u00a0in San Diego that drew more than 200 members of our military who \u00a0proudly wear the uniform and yet are now open in their homosexuality.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
We have amazing \u00a0connectedness with\u00a0smart phones, Facebook, Twitter and other technology, yet we are forced to\u00a0bowl alone<\/a><\/b>, with little more than distant \u201cfriends\u201d sending us \u201clikes\u201d or \u201cstatus updates\u201d and somehow that is supposed to fill the holes in our souls.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Despite our advances in science, medicine, and technology, it seems as a culture, we\u2019ve slipped \u2014 and fallen.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
I swallow hard when I realize that gay marriage will be the norm in my children\u2019s lifetime. Their generation have abandoned the church in droves. The vows between husband and wife are increasingly rare \u2014 and then easily dismissed. Marijuana and other casual drugs are seeing increased acceptance<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
What in the world is going on?\u00a0<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
I read this quote from George Bernard Shaw. \u201cThe reasonable man adapts himself to the world,<\/i>\u201d he said.\u00a0\u201cThe unreasonable man persists in adapting the world to himself.\u201d<\/i>\n<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
I\u2019m not sure I fit in either of Shaw\u2019s absolutes. At first blush, I think I\u2019m reasonable, but I\u2019m uncomfortable simply adapting to the world. After all,\u00a0this world is not my home<\/i>.<\/a>\u00a0<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n\n\n\n\n
<\/a><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Gumby was likeable, but he
was a \u00a0pushover. People could
make him out to be anything.<\/i><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
Actually, I\u2019m probably\u00a0unreasonable<\/i>, but not for Shaw\u2019s reason. There\u2019s no way I want the world to adapt to me. I\u2019ve been around those kind of people and the universe circles around them in a dizzying display of selfishness. Shamelessly, they expect everyone to see their point of view and serve their needs.\u00a0<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
But I am<\/b> unreasonable, because I clutch to absolutes like God, love, and faith and never abandoning them no matter what the consequences. I won\u2019t go with the flow if it violates what has been planted in me, the Holy Seed that cannot be uprooted.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
What\u2019s the world coming to?\u00a0No good<\/i>. We\u2019re told that things will continue to regress until we implode<\/a>.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
And I will stubbornly refuse to just be reasonable for all the wrong reasons.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
