There was one thing I wanted from God.\u00a0It was virtuous. It was honorable. It was good. <\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
So I prayed. And I asked. And I exhorted.<\/div>\n
\nAnd nothing happened<\/em>.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Maybe He didn\u2019t hear my prayer.<\/div>\n

Maybe He didn\u2019t care.<\/p><\/div>\n

The prayer was for a miracle, for a change of heart and\u00a0direction.\u00a0We\u2019re told that with \u201cthe faith of a mustard seed<\/em>,\u201d we can move mountains. I believed. But it didn\u2019t happen. The Prodigal\u2019s path continued and\u00a0I there I stood at the door, hat in hand,\u00a0the hollow knock still ringing in the air. <\/div>\n

And then I began to examine myself. Was it because I was flawed? Was it because I didn\u2019t have enough faith, or understanding? Was it because I had been disobedient? Was I selfish in my request? Maybe it was me?<\/i>\n<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
At first, I was angry. I was angry at others, because they didn\u2019t help. I was angry at the counsel of fools. I was angry at God, feeling ripped off. After all, I had been taught that \u201cprayers offered in faith<\/a>\u201d will result in miracles. \u00a0Finally, I was angry at myself. What a fool I had been to even bother to ask.<\/em>\n<\/div>\n

Then, as the soothing waters cooled the situation, I began to breathe, think,\u00a0and remember. He has <\/strong>answered my prayers in the past. He\u2019s been faithful. Through the unanswered prayer for a miracle, I learned about what made me tick, my weakness and strength. I grew. Eventually I learned that in this case, my prayer was all wrong. Instead of praying for others to change,\u00a0 I was the one who needed a miraculous change.<\/div>\n

Maybe He heard me after all.<\/div>\n
