I don\u2019t know about you, but my life really isn\u2019t all that deliberate. In fact, I find that I often come into my best situations just by stumbling into them.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I can\u2019t tell you how many times I\u2019ve looked at my blessings and then asked, \u201chow in the world did I get here?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

I have a full-time job as a writer and communicator. The dirty little secret is that I\u2019m really a college drop-out who banged away at the typewriter for free\u00a0for decades. And now I\u2019m paid to be creative \u2014 with benefits. <\/span><\/p>\n

I have a great position<\/a> with The High Calling<\/a> \u2014<\/span> one that I didn\u2019t even know existed before I was offered it. <\/span><\/p>\n

I drive a really great 2004 Infinity, owned by a widow with 20,000 miles on it and paid\u00a0less for it than a comparable\u00a0Hyundai.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I had relationships and friends that have changed my life, people<\/a>\u00a0that I never sought out. I just found them. Or they found me. <\/span><\/p>\n

Looking around, I\u2019m so blessed, and I didn\u2019t do anything to deserve any of it.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

But I wonder if faith can be approached that same way. Can I just be a good\u00a0man, trying\u00a0to the right things and suddenly find myself smack dab in the middle of his will. Dare I say it, can I get lucky with God?<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Or do I have to be intentional \u2014 seeking Him out?<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/a><\/div>\n

This week\u2019s\u00a0lunar eclipse, as well as reading the accounts about the wise men who traveled to see Jesus following only a star has my eyes gazing upon the heavens. \u201cAre you for real God? What am I supposed to be doing? Do I matter?\u201d<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

I imagine those wise men asked the same questions \u2014 as we all do \u2014 but they chose to find the answer, rather than wait for it to just show up.\u00a0They asked<\/i> and what they got was an answer wrapped inside a puzzle \u2014 just follow the star. \u00a0It was almost as if God was saying, \u201cYou take the trip, I\u2019ll light the sky.\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Paul <\/span>describes<\/span><\/a> humans as \u201cseekers of God, feeling their way toward him\u201d. The Psalmist <\/span>says <\/span><\/a>that God actually \u201cconceals things. But the glory of kings is to search things out.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

I might know about\u00a0<\/strong><\/u>Jesus, just by stumbling in. But to actually know<\/u> Jesus, I must seek him out.<\/span><\/p>\n

A.W. Tozer said that \u201cGod is never found accidentally.\u201d <\/span>

<\/span>
That\u2019s why the bolt of lightening doesn\u2019t come often.<\/span>
That\u2019s why I don\u2019t see signs and wonders on a daily basis. <\/span>
That\u2019s why I don\u2019t have insight into the great mysteries.<\/span><\/p>\n

Because I\u2019m not looking. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAnd you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart\u201d (Jer. 29:13).<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n
