Conversations in Faith<\/a> has a wonderful post<\/a> chronicling her life of hard effort through school and work. We all instinctively know that sloth gets us nowhere. But now, after a period of forced Sabbath (a common theme, it seems<\/em>,) Nancy learned to appreciate the rest \u2013 \u201cI could embrace it. I could cherish it.\u201d<\/p>\n

We were unaware that a blog had already dedicated itself to the rest. Fellow High Calling Blogger Sabbath Says<\/a> has a number of intriguing posts. We were especially drawn to the Rules<\/a> and Exceptions post for Megan\u2019s Sabbath observation. \u201cThou shalt not exercise (unless thou needs a good run to clear thy<\/em> head) and \u201cThou Shalt not go out to eat (unless thy grandmother is paying)\u201d<\/em> crackle with irony.<\/p>\n

Sam Van Eman writes<\/a> that the problem is in his practice of the principle. \u201cMy integrity falters because here appears the disparity between what I say and what I do. I\u2019d rather accomplish than rest\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

Kay Martin, of Thrive Christian<\/a>, wrote an entire week of posts<\/a> on her reflections on Sabbath. And thanks to Cathie of God\u2019s Will Be Done <\/a>for the initial inspiration.<\/p>\n

It seems that everyone has a different approach \u2013\u2013 and that\u2019s not a bad thing. Rather than fuss over the rules and the correct way to observe the Sabbath, we should review the Red Letters of Jesus. \u201cMan was not made for the Sabbath, but the Sabbath was made for man.\u201d<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Now \u2013 enough talk. Let\u2019s actually figure out how to use this.<\/p>\n
