It\u2019s almost the beginning of another year \u2013 2007 Anno Domini<\/a>, in the year of our Lord \u2013 and as I do every year around this time, I have been thinking about what I\u2019d like to accomplish during the next 365 days of my time here on Earth.<\/p>\n

As I looked at the resolutions from past years, I must admit that my resolutions have been quite selfish. For instance last year was focused exclusively on finally completing a goal that\u2019s been on my list for over 10 years \u2013 to climb Mt. Whitney <\/a>(and thankfully it\u2019s no longer on my list!).<\/p>\n

This year I decided that I would think about my New Year\u2019s resolutions differently. I would still keep a few selfish goals (I really would like to finally ride 100 miles which has been on the list for over 10 years, too) but I wanted to make sure that I set aside some goals for God. I wanted to make sure that I was putting specific energy into my spiritual advancement as well as my physical.<\/p>\n

So here it is: In 2007 I want to be joyful at work. I want to be effective and productive and to live out the words of Christ each day I show up to work. I will strive to encourage somebody everyday to show them the love Jesus shows me.<\/p>\n

Hopefully, I\u2019ll make it further than most Americans do \u2013 apparently, only 64% of us <\/a>who make resolutions make it past the first month.<\/p>\n

\u201cDo nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus.\u201d
